Buying Beautiful Vintage Kantha Quilt

A beautiful vintage kantha quilt circa 1960. These quilts are incredibly versatile, they can be used as traditional bedding, sofa throws or a cosy blanket to snuggle up on the sofa with.

Every quilt is totally unique, telling its own beautiful story. Some have signs of wear exposing the stunning layers below while others have patches/small stains, adding additional charm and individuality.

What is Kantha?

Kantha quilts are made using numerous layers of recycled silk or cotton saris which are hand stitched in the traditional Bengal style called Kantha. What originated as a cost effect way to produce warm blankets has buying developed over the years into a beautiful art form, creating truly unique one off designs.

Care instructions: hand-wash in warm water.
