However, the current consensus is that the work is by Robert Peckham (1785-1877) of Massachusetts. The girl in the portrait is Rosa Heywood, the oldest daughter of Walter and Nancy Foster Heywood of Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Her father having started the Walter Heywood Chair Manufacturing Company in 1841.
Found at an estate sale, this piece will add lush splash of color to any wall.
