The Raffaellesco pattern was inspired by Raphael's frescoes in the Vatican palace. The central motif of the pattern is the dragon, a good-natured God who was thought to bring good luck and fair winds to sailors. Today, Italians believe that having a piece of Raffaellesco in your home will bring good luck.
