Description

Product Name: RESTORATION PROJECT - 19th Century buying Arts & Crafts Smokers’ Cabinet made in England / Pipe Storage Case / Victorian Tobacciana

buying An impressive Arts and Crafts Smokers Cabinet designed to be either wall-hung or free-standing. Dated circa 1890 (based on other listings of similar items, not confirmed). The item was handed over to me by my friend's great grandmother. It used to serve her husband many years ago but its lost its sentimental value and they decided to bin it, believe it or not. I couldn't let that happen but the restoration project proved to be too difficult for me and due to lack of time and the right tools, I need to pass it on. I wish someone else can bring this beautiful item back to life.

The exterior features an ornately carved single panel door which opens to reveal a separate upper and lower drawer, together with a pair of fixed racks for pipes. The top section is unfortuantely missing, originally designed to accommodate smoking related requisites and it is engraved with the English-registered number 215649 as issued at the time of production (shown on photo 9).
The bottom part where a small drawer was located is also missing.

Unfortunately the cabinet is slighly worn out and some elements are missing, the wood finish is poor at the moment, it need a good clean and restoration.

Measures 20” tall and 8” wide plus 7” deep (50 x 20 x 18cms)

I hope it can find a new home with a passionate individual who will make it shine again.
