Minton buying "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" Decorative Plate

The classic images of John Tenniel's "Alice in Wonderland" are reproduced by England's renown Minton Pottery in this limited edition of 1500. This plate is titled "The Cheshire Cat" and is No. #0389 in the edition, with original box and Certificate of Authenticity. This edition comes in a collection of four different Tenniel images: "The Mock Turtle", "The White Rabbit" and "The Mad Hatter's Tea Party", and this one - all produced and discontinued by 1998. Each set included 1500 pieces, and 20 years later, they rarely come up for sale. This plate came from an estate in No. CA, and the owner had 3 of the 4 plates in her collection. The coloring on the plates is stunning; they each look like a pen and ink watercolor. Tenniel was a well-known illustrator in London in the 1860's and did the iconic artwork by engraving on wood blocks. These reproductions are true to the original artwork in the book. A rare find!
