This is a beautiful, heavy antique cast-brass American Eagle designed to be placed as a decoration on a door or wall. Highly detailed, it depicts an American Eagle holding a laurel wreath of victory in it's beak that is also draped around is neck. The eagle stands upon a decorative base while clasping both an olive branch in its right foot talons & a clutch of arrows in its left foot talons, symbolizing that America is ready for either peace or war. (This is what the eagle is holding on the Great Seal of the United States.) The eagle's wings are spread, indicating that it is ready to take either course of action. There are no foundry marks, but it was likely made in the 1930s-1940s, when a number of buying early American & Federal Period designs were produced in the United States. It has two screw holes prepared for attaching it to a door or wall. Great patina with a good balance of brightness & light wear. Weighs a little over 1 lb 2 oz. About 6" high x 6" wide.
