It was made in various countries, including Czechoslovakia and Germany during the mid 19th century. The glass was made by adding real gold to sapphire colored molten glass. The process of adding gold to glass became too expensive, and therefore ended. The beads measure 37 mm long. Comparable beads if you can find them are averaging $150 each. The price is firm.
