About the Art
"Bandolero"
Is the original single piece of basswood that I hand carved in 2016. I used a band saw machine to cut the shape and carving knives, I sanded, stains and coated with layers of varnish to protects against UV rays, moisture and dust. It requires very little to no maintenance and surprisingly light, easy to hang buying on the wall.

About the Artist:
I was born in Usulután, El Salvador during a great political instability. As a child I was always passionate about futbol and visual arts, I spent all my time playing and whenever I wasn't I was drawing. By the age of fourteen a civil war occurred in the country, for my safety I made a decision to leave my home, neighbourhood and country to find a better life. In 1986 at the age of twenty I was blessed to have ended up in Montréal, Québec Canada where I met my wife and started a family.
The love for wood carving began when my wife enrolled me in a wood carving class, it will changed the way I look at wood forever. All my sculptures are dedicated to her, she has been my #1 fan from the start and has always supported me through this journey.
In 1997 I moved my Family to London, Ontario where I was quickly introduce to the province's wood carving competitions. I had the opportunity to participate and receive awards in London, Bradford, Hamilton, Kitchener, Toronto, Windsor, Niagara Falls and won "Best of Show" in Woodstock.
All my carving are made entirely by hand and throughout the years I have marked my initials different on every single one of my carvings, making them all very special and personal. I work from my basement, I only use chisels, knives and machines only to cut the piece of wood I need.
My work have been admired and featured on several magazines, catalogs and websites including; ONTARIO WOOD CARVERS ASSOCIATION, LEE VALLEY, CHIPPING AWAY, CHIP CHATS and others.
