Poems And buying Plays by Oliver Goldsmith, M.B. Published in Dublin Antiquarian Poetry & Plays Book

A rare antiquarian book entitled, 'Poems and Plays' by Oliver Goldsmith, M.B., and published and printed in Dublin. The title page states; "To Which Is Prefixed, The Life Of The Author. A new, Edition, Corrected". The first edition was published in Dublin in 1777, this early edition dated 1785, features the ten page, 'Life of the Author". There are two special additions to this volume, pressed flowers, which were found in between the pages.

An Irish novelist, playwright, and poet, Oliver Goldsmith, (1728-1774), is will known for his novel 'The Vicar of Wakefield, his poem 'The Deserted Village', and his plays, 'The Good-Natur'd Man' and 'She Stoops to Conquer'. The classic children's tale, 'The History of Little Goody Two Shoes is thought to be one of his works.

The antique book features wooden boards which are covered in brown leather. The spine features a burgundy leather accent with the title in gold gilt lettering; Goldsmith, Poems. The overall condition is good considering the book is over two hundred years old. Some of the pages are turned, the pages have staining and the front hinge is separated. The buying measurements; 4" x 6 1/4" x 1".

A wonderful addition to an antiquarian book collection.
