This chainmail aventail is intended to be fitted within a helm to provide protection for the sides and back of the head and neck. The links are sewn onto a leather strip with leather strands.

The links for this aventail are made from flat 18 gauge / 9mm rings that have been dome riveted together - these rings alternate with solid flat rings. The rings have been darkened for a finish.

The chainmail aventail measures about 12" buying from the bottom sewn end of the leather band to chain hem.
