Some history...
Jakob Bengel founded a chain factory in Idar-Oberstein, Germany, in 1873, and became a leading manufacturer of fashion jewelry throughout the 1920s/30s. Chrome and other buying non-precious materials were favoured by adherents of the Bauhaus and Art Deco periods. Bengel was inspired by the French Avant-Garde and others such as Coco Chanel to produce experimental jewelry. The Bengel factory closed in 1939 due to the war. It was rediscovered only in 2001, containing its original machinery, catalogues, and jewelry stock. Bengel jewelry has been prized ever since and two books have been published about his work.
