Description

Product Name: Jianzhang / Tenmoku Gong Fu Cha XiShi buying Teapot 300ml

This Tenmoku / JianZhan XiShi Teapot allies the elegant XiShi shape to the fine art or Tenmoku/Jianzhan ceramic.
The XiShi Teapot shape is appreciated and quite common among Yixing teapots.

This Yixing teapot owes its name: XiShi to a Lady of great beauty from ancient China. This Lady was said to be the most beautiful woman at her time and this teapot was shaped after this ideal of elegance and beauty.

Some people have a more erotic version of the story: according to them, the shape evokes a breast, and its roundness evokes the sensuality of a woman's body.

Due to the firing in kiln, the pattern on each Jianzhan ware will be slightly different.
Therefore, each teapot is unique and small variations of the silver pattern can be observed.

JianZhan porcelain can be dated back to Song dynasty (960 - 1279). Its secret revolves around the use of high iron content clay (at least 8%) and an excellent craftsmanship to fire JianZhan wares at 1300°C which produce these wonderful silver patterns.

In Chinese tradition, drinking tea from a JianZhan teapot enhance the taste of tea, making it mellower.
When using JianZhan ware for the first time there is no need to "season" it like a Zisha ware, simply rinse it with warm water and the cup is ready to use.

Peace&Leaf's comment : This JianZhan XiShi teapot is finely crafted and it is a real pleasure to use it!
