De-constructivism is a movement of postmodern architecture which appeared in the 1980s, which gives the impression of the fragmentation of the constructed building. It is characterized by an absence of harmony, continuity, or symmetry. Its name comes from the idea of "Deconstruction", a form of semiotic analysis developed by the French philosopher Jacques Derrida.
The works in this series mark a different view of sensibility, one in which the dream of pure form has been shifted or changed. It is the ability to disturb our thinking about form that interests me.
By using and deconstructing traditional Japanese calligraphy and imagery in this painting Vajra Granelli mixes traditional Japanese art with modern concepts of abstract art. The work becomes a link between the past and present, like a bridge connecting different ideas of buying composition. Vajra Granelli studied traditional art in China and Japan for many years
