The creativity and skill that made this little bowl are amazing. It was bought in Venice, Italy in 1959, a gift from a man to his beloved wife buying on their vacation there. It has no mark, but someone etched the initials "M" and "It" on the frosted bottom (see photo #10). I assume they stand for "Murano" and "Italy." Venice is world-famous for glassblowing, possibly back some 1,200 years. In the 13th Century, glassblowers moved to Murano because their hot furnaces could destroy Venice where buildings at that time were made of wood. Murano is a group of tiny islands linked by bridges a mile from Venice. Glassblowing artistry is still there and passed from generation to generation. This little bowl has amazing blends of colors and shapes. For shelf or table...as a paperweight...for the desk. 3.25" high x 3" wide, triangular with rounded edges (see photo #3). In perfect condition. This is a lovely story of the magic of glassblowing and young love over six decades ago. A real treasure!.
