Vintage J.D. Roybal ( buying 1923-1978) San Illdefonso Pueblo Native American Ceremonial Dancer Silkscreen Notepaper is matted under glass in Original black wood frame.

In very good pre owned condition, the silkscreen is in excellent condition… it measures approximately 14.5” x 16.75”, Sight size is approximately 10” x 12” & is hand signed in the bottom right corner.

Mr. J.D. Roybal, whose Twena name is Oqua. was born in 1923 in San Illdefonso Pueblo, New Mexico. He served in the United States Army during World War 11, but since 1958 has devoted his time mainly to painting, specializing in accurate & graceful portrayal of the many dance figures that are apart if the Pueblo's ceremonial life. Mr Roybal's uncle, the widely know artist Aa- Tsieh, was an important influence during his youth: where he learned many of his painting skills watching his uncle at work.
Mr Roybal's lovely dancers have prizes at the Indian Market in Santa Fe. In Scottsdale, Arizona & at the Heard Museum in Phoenix.
Mr Roybal passed away in 1978.
