Shaving Innovations Luxury VI Horween Natural Horsehide buying Strop

After gauging the popularity and reviews of my last Horween horsehide strops, including buying one from the Stallion, I'm happy to be offering them again, this time under a new name!

The Luxury V is made with 5-9+ oz vegetable-tanned Horween horsehide. While some tend to be a bit slower than other horse strops, they're still relatively fast. I'd describe the draw as light to medium-light, with a silky, slick feeling and quieter sound. To achieve this, I sand the hides if there's any knap. That way, I get a smoother, more even stropping surface. As a straight shaver, I alternate between all my strops, made both by other artisans and myself. And this is among my favorites. I've also applied some strop balm to mine to moisten it a bit and protect from scratching, and this method's turned out really well. The only minor side effect is a slight darkening of the leather, but it remains a great performer and even feels a tad smoother. For the serious shaver, Horween horsehide is a dependable, yet luxurious stropping leather!
