Description

Product Name: Antique BLISS Lithographed buying Dollhouse Furniture - Chair from ABC Parlor Set #266 - 1890's

The R. Bliss Manufacturing Company made toys in the latter part of the 19th and into the 20th Century and are best known for their beautiful dollhouses made of light wood covered with detailed lithographed paper. Furniture was also made in several sizes to accommodate the houses.

Several sets of parlor furniture were made in the "ABC" line and this chair is from the largest set #266. The complete parlor would have included a table, four more straight chairs and an armchair, settee, piano and bench and a lamp with letters to complete the alphabet. This is the "O,N" chair.

Made of light-colored wood with no stain or other finish and turned wooden legs glued to the underside of the seat. The back is attached to the seat with two nails. Made in a size that is larger than typical for 1:12 scale and measures 4 3/4" tall, 2 7/8" wide across the flare on the back and 2" deep.

In very nice condition with no breaks but a re-glue on one leg. No loss of the papers but some spotting on the back and slight rippling and a crease on the seat. Please use the photos as further illustration of condition and more will be gladly provided.

Shown on page 20 of buying "Antique and Collectible Dollhouses and Their Furnishings" book by Dian Zillner and Patty Cooper.
