Description

Product Name: Rare Antique buying Peul Stool ,Round Senufo stool

Tonga stools were hand-carved from one piece of wood, often a hardwood like teak or ironwood, to ensure longevity by the Tonga people buying, a Bantu ethnic group of peers in today's southern Zambia bordering northern Zimbabwe. Traditionally, only the head of the household could own and take his place on a Tonga stool. Women were prohibited from sitting on stools. Just by observing a man's chair you can easily weave together a story about the owner and his position in the wider community, and were typically used by aristocrats, elders and nobles as a portable seat. They look great stacked on top of each other or individual as a candle holder. They also make a handy seat or side table and no two are the same. While most Tonga stools fall in the same general style, they come in a variety of designs, which are often geometric in form.
