Carnelian beads are pink, orange and red in color and they have been found on Cypress dating back to 5800-5200 BC. As one of the softer stones, early craftsmen (2500 BC) found a method to ‘etch' designs on the stone to enhance its value as you see in two of these beads. Carnelian is said to be one of the stones on the priest Aaron's breastplate in the Bible. Egyptians believed it prevented anger, envy and hatred. It's a grounding stone, brings the wearer to the present, helps in decision making, restores vitality and stimulates creativity. In Victorian times, many women wore or carried with buying them a carnelian heart. The stone now is mined in the Far East, India, Egypt, Romania, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Peru and Iceland.
