This hand crafted wooden salt box is made almost entirely from walnut hardwood. The bottom panel is made from birch plywood. This is to allow a snug fit for the bottom panel while drastically reducing the wood movement in the panel. Bottom panels made from hardwood that are not given proper expansion space can end up splitting the box over time. Because this is a wood product, it should not be exposed to moisture for extended periods of time. If it happens to get dirty, simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth and dry it completely. Every buying once in a while, reapply the beeswax paste mixture to the outside of the box. Just rub a small amount on and then buff it smooth. Also, no two boxes will look the same. Grain pattern and tone of the hardwood will vary. I try to select attractive boards to use in all of my projects. Dimensions: 4"L x 3"W x 2.75"H.
